Kotubia Mosque & Marrakech Medina – Morocco

Morocco Diary – Previous Posts

I have already shared three stories, and picture diaries from Morocco and there are still so many more to go from the gorgeous country of Mosaics, Riads, Olives and Jasmine tea. I haven’t started with Spain and Kerala yet, so much to share and such little time. But I am in no rush, will revisit and savor each and every place, its colors and flavors all over again with this and many more upcoming posts.

After staying in the Riad La Croix Berbere and visiting Bahia Palace, we headed towards the much talked about Marrakech Medina, a UNESCO World Heritage site. It’s surrounded by architectural jewels such as Bandiâ Palace, the Ben Youssef Madrasa, the Saadian Tombs, several great residences and Place Jamaâ El Fna, a veritable open-air theatre. Koutoubia Mosque and Minaret Stands tall in the plain site and is visible from Medina.

As I mentioned I my previous post, my introduction to Marrakech happened with Orange trees and it was only fair that I indulged in a big hearty portion of fresh orange juice before indulging in morocco shopping.

While absorbing the sun, people and noises of people and horse carts in Medina, I started my little exploration with the various little artifacts, home textiles, and utility items of Moroccan decent.

After medina and mosque we headed towards Menara Gardens. If you are fan of olives and want to own your own Olive orchards one day (just like me) you should stop for a quick visit, nothing that I would highly recommend otherwise. Will share a few pictures of it in my next post.

Now, keeping the words short, I’ll let the pictures of the sun kissed day filled with color and food do rest of the talking.
