I’ve been on a spree to explore tiny bistros, cafés and eateries in and around town. Last post on the blog was about Roots- Café In The Park, the next one should be about my all-time favorite Sakley’s – The Mountain Café. But this one is about Amour Bistro.
I happened to cross it when we were on a run to get the visa for Schengen. It was a pleasant day and the visa process in the evening was followed by some home furnishings and furniture shopping at Kirti Nagar. We didn’t end up shopping much, but thanks to all the running and window shopping, we built up a huge appetite for a relaxed, sumptuous dinner at the little Italian Bistro called Amour Bistro. Located at Malcha Marg, it’s apparently a baby version of the huge Amour – The Patio Restaurant in Hauz Khas Village (should have guessed it from the logo).
With a good selection Italian and continental yummies made with fresh seasonal vegetables, meats and seafood, we stuck with our favorite vegetarian options. To many, Italian and vegetarian might sound boring if not contrasting, but Amour has its fair share of surprises when it comes to taste.
Our evening started with some interesting cocktails, followed by a hearty meal of wood fried pizza, sautéed vegetables and lasagna. I don’t have any food pictures, was too busy indulging.
We didn’t have any room for desert. But the names on the menu sounded so appealing that we couldn’t turn our backs to them. I dug in Amaretto Cake with runny Irish custard. And yes, I saw heaven in the very first bite.
